ORS have recently had published a Community Gyms resource which is a step by step guide for the establishment of not-for-profit community gyms in rural and regional South Australia.

ACCOLADES FOR GROUPS FOSTERING SPORT IN SA
Organisations generating exciting ways and opportunities for South Australians to be active, have been recognised in the 2010 be active Recreation and Sport Industry Awards.
The awards recognise outstanding achievements and celebrate the vital role that sport, outdoor recreation, community recreation and fitness organisations play in building active, healthy communities.
Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing, Michael Wright, presented the Minister's Award to "Touch Football SA" for their successful alternative approach to establishing a new competition in regional areas.
"Touch has made a strong commitment to support regional communities in an innovative way that addresses the unique challenges for those areas," Mr Wright said.

Touch Football SA Awarded for Industry Excellence
Touch Football SA (TFSA) has been honoured with accolades from the Office for Recreation & Sport and industry leaders at the 2010 be active Recreation and Industry Awards, held at the National Wine Centre on Friday 6th August.
"It gives me great pleasure to announce that TFSA was the recipient of the Minister's Award for Excellence for 2010.I would also like to express my gratitude to our technical directors and make special mention of be active Field Officers, Adrian Pipe (Riverland) & Daniel Lawlor (Mid North) for their outstanding contributions in establishing competitions in their regions. AUSTSWIM- Winners of the Professional Development or Pathways Award
Indigenous AUSTSWIM Leaders
This project is providing a new opportunity for indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse groups to be trained to deliver swimming and water safety programs to their own communities.
This initiative came about from AUSTSWIM and local Port Lincoln & West Coast Swimming Club Coach Carol Veldhuyzen consulting with the following local people:
Jack Johncock- Eyre Peninsula Indigenous Sport & Recreation Officer.
Barbie Clutterbuck- Community Recreation Lecturer Spencer TAFE Port Lincoln.
Mark Fisher- Eyre Peninsula be active Field Officer.
